For Grantseekers
As a private foundation, the Sprague Foundation funds 501(c)(3) public charities, or organizations with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor, focused on clinical healthcare and public health in the city of Chicago. Our primary support extends to agencies serving under-resourced communities and populations. We have two grantmaking cycles per year, summer and winter, and currently operate by invitation only.
We prioritize pilots and other initiatives that seed new approaches to health and healthcare in the Chicagoland region. Efforts that convene larger partnerships are of particular interest, and our commitment to full-cost funding means expenses tied to collaboration are considered appropriate partial uses of grant awards.
Our grantmaking priorities cover a wide range of health needs and opportunities, though we are in the process of refining our strategic goals and will post updates as they develop.
Words from our grantees
“Sprague has shepherded Mobile Care Chicago through the most innovative and collaborative projects throughout our 25-year history. The change they’ve facilitated on behalf of people who need help, through their thought partnership and seed funding, is truly inspiring.”
