Christy Prahl, Executive Director

Christy (she/her) previously served as Program Director, Health and Human Services, for Crown Family Philanthropies and New Communities Program Director for Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation. She is a seasoned philanthropy and nonprofit professional who centers equity in her professional and personal endeavors. Christy credits her work in the Humboldt Park community for the conviction that philanthropy is its best when taking the lead from community. She has brought this lens to more than a decade of foundation work with an emphasis on social determinants of health, trust-based philanthropy, and collaborative partnership, often with the public sector. Her leadership helped to pilot transformational initiatives in public health, housing/homelessness, and domestic violence throughout Chicagoland. Christy is also a published poet and the leader of her block group in west Logan Square. She holds a Masters Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Illinois – Chicago and PhD in English from the University of Kansas.
